This Privacy Policy describes how Zill Noorain Institute (“Zill Noorain”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Zill Noorain mobile application available on Google Play and the Apple App Store (the “App”) and our website at zillnoorain.com.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information directly from you when you create an account, enrol in classes, or use the App:

  • Account information: your name and email address.
  • Contact information: phone number (including WhatsApp number, if you provide it).
  • Profile and learning data: profile photo (optional), course and class enrolments, lesson and course progress, attendance, and similar learning records.
  • Payment information: billing details required to process paid courses. Card numbers and bank details are handled by our third-party payment processors; we receive and store only transaction identifiers, billing name, amount, and status — never your full card number or CVV.
  • Device and technical data: basic information your device sends automatically, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language settings, crash logs, and approximate IP-based location, used to keep the App working reliably.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To deliver online Quran classes, track progress, and provide certificates and other learning records.
  • To process payments and send invoices or receipts.
  • To communicate with you about classes, schedule changes, support requests, and important account notices.
  • To improve the App, fix bugs, and protect against fraud and abuse.
  • To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers that help us operate the App and the institute, such as cloud hosting, email delivery, video-class platforms, and payment processors. They are permitted to use your information only to provide their services to us.
  • Legal and regulatory authorities when we are required to do so by law, a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our students, staff, or the public.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your information is stored on secured servers and protected by industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. Access to personal information is restricted to authorised staff who need it to perform their duties. No method of transmission over the internet is fully secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information consistent with this policy.

5. How to Request Account & Data Deletion

You can ask us to delete your account and the personal information associated with it at any time. To request deletion:

  1. Send an email to info@zillnoorain.com from the email address registered on your account.
  2. Use the subject line “Account Deletion Request”.
  3. In the message, please include:
    • your full name as registered in the App;
    • the email address and, if available, the phone number on your account;
    • a short statement that you are requesting deletion of your account and personal data.
  4. We will reply within 7 business days to confirm receipt and, if needed, verify your identity (for example, by sending a confirmation code to your registered email).
  5. Once we have verified the request, we will delete your account and the personal data described in Section 6 within 30 days. We will email you when the deletion is complete.

If you are a parent or legal guardian and want us to delete a child’s account, send the same request from your own email and identify the child’s account. We may ask for additional information to confirm you are the parent or guardian before acting on the request.

6. What Data Gets Deleted vs. Retained

When a deletion request is verified, we treat your data as follows:

Deleted within 30 days of a verified request

  • Your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo.
  • Your account credentials and login history.
  • Your course enrolments, lesson and course progress, attendance records, certificates issued to you, and other personal learning data.
  • Support messages and other communications linked to your account.
  • Device identifiers, IP-based location, and crash logs tied to your account.

Encrypted backups containing this data are overwritten on our normal backup rotation, which is completed within 90 days of the account deletion.

Retained after deletion (only as required by law or for legitimate business need)

  • Payment, invoicing, and tax records — retained for up to 7 years to comply with applicable financial, tax, and accounting laws. These records may include your name, billing address, amounts paid, and transaction identifiers, but never full card numbers or CVV codes.
  • Records needed to defend or pursue legal claims, prevent fraud, or comply with a legal obligation — retained only for as long as that purpose requires, and then deleted.
  • Aggregated or fully anonymised data that can no longer reasonably be linked back to you (for example, total number of students enrolled in a course) — this data is not considered personal information and may be retained indefinitely.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our App is used by students of many ages, including children. When a child uses the App, the account is created and managed by a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for the child’s use. We do not knowingly collect more information from a child than is necessary to deliver classes. Parents and guardians can review, correct, or request deletion of their child’s information at any time using the process in Section 5.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 11. We will respond within the time period required by applicable law.

9. International Users

Zill Noorain operates from the United States and serves students worldwide. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. We take appropriate steps to ensure your information is protected wherever it is processed.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
